Beyond the Rankings: Finding (and Getting Into) the Best Universities in the U.S.

June 17, 2013 -- 8:00 am - 9:30 am

HK$280

Rankings make comparing universities easier. However, rankings are not the only measure of education quality and cannot tell how well a college will serve the needs of individual students. There are over 4000 colleges in the U.S. which are all different in terms of faculty, mix of students, environment, programs, facilities, financial resources, and many other factors. Rankings are oversimplified that a number is used to represent the true values of a college. Choosing a college is an individual decision which should be made based on student’s needs. Students can only find their best fit universities and plan their own admission strategies by looking beyond the rankings.

This informative seminar aims at helping parents to understand the limitations of the university ranking systems, other quality parameters of university education and the admission requirements of the quality US universities, thus enabling them to identify the best universities for their children and make their own admission plans.Dr. Montgomery will share the updated information and his experience in working with different students in the seminar.

Topics that Dr. Montgomery will cover:

1. University ranking systems – meanings and limitations
2. Indicators of higher education quality
3. Identifying the best US universities
4. Admission realities of top universities
5. Spoken and unspoken admission requirements
6. Planning a personalized admission strategy
