One Application, 8 Ivy League Schools and other Top Universities
六月 2, 2015 -- 8:00 上午 - 9:30 上午
HK$180The Common App (Common Application) is the key to enter Top Universities in the US. The President of American Academic Advisors, Dr. Mark A. Montgomery, will tell you the secrets in using the Common App to get into your dream colleges.
The Common App is an undergraduate college admission application for applying to most of the US colleges and universities, including big names such as Harvard, Yale, Princeton, University of Chicago, and Stanford.
The Common App contains a student’s primary selling points to help admission officers to make acceptance decisions. Students insert their personal data, school and standardized test results, extra-curricular activities and honors, and answer a few writing prompts. Plus, students must request three recommendations from their high school (these are very important!)
Completing the Common App is more than filling in bubbles and checking boxes, however. If students do it right, they will communicate their strengths, distinctiveness and personality very effectively, thus getting a better chance of winning the college admission game.
The key is: how to pitch yourself to the top universities, such as Columbia, U Penn, Dartmouth, Brown, Cornell, and Pomona in the Common App?
This seminar aims at helping parents to understand what the admission officers look for from the Common App and learn how to prepare, organize and present information strategically.
Topics that Dr. Montgomery will cover include:
- A closer look at the Common Application
- Why admission officers want this information and what they look for
- What should be done before filling out the Common App
- The importance of extra-curricular activities in the admission process
- What to say about the “Level(s) of Recognition” of the honors received and achievements since Grade 9 (Y10 or F.3 equivalent)?
- How to deal with changes of SAT and ACT?
- How to manage multiple writing supplements
- Case studies of students who have achieved admission to great universities
Who should come? Any parent with school-age children considering higher education in the United States is welcome. If your children are planning to study at the top US universities, you should attend to learn what to do from Grade 8 to Grade 12 and to develop the strategy, focus, and mindset to succeed. If you have a Grade 11 (Year 12 or Form 5 equivalent) child who is going to submit the Common App in the coming Fall, you MUST attend this event to ensure you know what your child should say (e.g. major) or not to say (e.g. school GPA) in the Common App so as to get that firm offer from a top university in December 2015!
